CCI’s Maine Families program is giving out a bounty of books! Each child participating in the program will receive one book while supplies last. The program shares that exploring books with children right from the start can help a child develop language skills, improve listening skills, and strengthens the bond between a parent/caregiver and their child. If a parent is not a reader, it is ok! There are all sorts of creative ways to engage with books. It is not all about reading the words on the page, but about spending that time together exploring the pages.
CCI’s Maine Families program serves Androscoggin, Oxford, and Northern Cumberland Counties, and families can participate at no cost. Using the Parents as Teachers Model, Maine Families provides support and encouragement for parents, helps families plan for a healthy pregnancy, and provides information around the topics that matter to families regarding health, nutrition, safety, development, and well-being.
If you are expecting a baby or have a newborn and are interested in joining the Maine Families program, you can request services by emailing: infomainefamilies@community-concepts.org.
