Women’s Day Center at Sophia’s House
Open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., the Women’s Day Center at Sophia’s House (143 Blake Street, Lewiston) is here to support and empower women in the Lewiston-Auburn community and surrounding areas.
Administered by Sonia Turgeon, the Women’s Day Center will offer a communal space with activities, arts, crafts, music, classes, and discussion. (The entrance at 143 Blake Street is accessible on the parking lot side near Gather to Grow). These ongoing programs help in building resiliency and relationships.
The house also includes a permanent resident community that sustains the basic operating costs of the house and provides stability in community life. Permanent residents and women in the long-term program share community spaces and regular meals. The house also offers hospitality to neighbors or programs held in the common areas.
