CCI’s Self-Help Housing Program hosted its 20th Annual Spaghetti Supper this month, bringing dozens of homeowners together with family and friends for a night of delicious food, fun, and prizes. This year’s supper also marked another milestone for the program: its 30th anniversary at CCI. Over the last 30 years, families have worked with Self-Help Housing to build more than 350 homes in rural Maine.

A group of volunteers, including CCI staff, board members, and community partners, prepared dinner for the group, featuring spaghetti, meatballs, salads, and garlic bread. All homeowners in attendance received raffle tickets for door prizes, with the night ending in excitement as families won Hannaford gift cards, Visa gift cards, a prize of 100 gallons of fuel, and more.

The program is grateful to all Self-Help Housing supporters, event sponsors, volunteers, and to USDA Rural Development for their continued commitment to the program, our families, and our communities.

“We have a great team that has a combined 100 years of working with Self-Help together to make this program successful,” shared Bradford.

"I feel it is amazing that we are now helping the second and third generations become a homeowner," said Susan Bradford, Group Worker Specialist for the program. "Working with someone that grew up in a Self-Help house and now wants to participate says a lot about the impact of Self-Help."
