Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for our barbecue earlier this month celebrating NeighborWorks Week and 30 years of Self-Help Housing at CCI! Despite a rainstorm, CCI staff members, representatives from Maine’s Rural Development Office and NCALL Research, Inc., State Representative Margaret Craven, and two current participants of our Self-Help Housing Program gathered to celebrate the groundbreaking for the latest Self-Help Housing cohort.

As a NeighborWorks America network organization, CCI is committed to creating opportunities for people to live in affordable homes. Through our Self-Help Housing program, we annually assist groups of 6 families to build their own homes and assist 9 families to purchase existing homes on the market to be rehabilitated. Our program has completed over 330 homes over the last 3 decades. You can learn more on our website.

CCI is part of the national NeighborWorks network, an affiliation of nearly 250 nonprofit organizations located in every state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. NeighborWorks Week is celebrated annually to showcase the work done in our communities and how our agencies and community members work together to empower people to enhance their lives.
