CCI’s Self-Help Housing Program was honored to have a visit from the National USDA Rural Development office earlier this week. Pictured above left to right are Jordan Luong, homeowner, Jamal Habibi, Chief of Staff for the Rural Housing Service, Joaquin Altoro, Rural Housing Services Administrator, and Rhiannon Hampson, USDA Rural Development State Director for Maine.
The group visited Jordan’s home to see the type of house built through the program, and to talk about how the program impacts our communities and the families who have built approximately 350 homes with CCI over the last 30 years. The group also spoke with CCI staff about how families are being impacted by housing issues in our communities, and will be using that feedback to work at the federal level with organizations such as ours to assist families in the future.
“This was the first visit to Maine for the Administrator and his Chief of Staff,” shared CCI’s Director of Housing & Energy Services Sandy Albert. “We are proud that the work that we are doing is being recognized at a National level.”
